Now it’s official. Barcelona announced on Wednesday the hiring of coach Ronald Koeman. The 57-year-old Dutchman arrives to replace Quique Setién, who was fired last weekend after his humiliating Champions League elimination. Koeman was at the head of the Netherlands team before signing with Barça.

Ronald returns to the club that shone as a player and also where he took the first steps to become a coach, assisting compatriot Louis Van Gaal in the 2000s.

Between 1989 and 1995, Koeman played 264 games for the Catalan club, scored 87 goals, and won the Spanish Championship on four occasions. In addition, he was the team captain in the first victory of the Barcelona Champions League in 1992, even scoring the title against Sampdoria.
